Swimming Pool Rules
Summer 2011
All members of the Traceside Homeowner’s Association and their guests may use the swimming pool facility in accordance with the following Rules and Regulations:
Anyone entering the pool area outside of regular hours of operation, without prior approval from the Management Company or the Board of Directors, will be deemed a trespasser. Pool Hours of Operation are as follows: Opening – May 21, 2011
Closing – September 6, 2011
May 21 to August 15: 9am to 8:45pm daily
August 16 to September 6: 10am to 8pm daily
Swim Team Season- June 1 to July 22 2011. The Swim Team uses the pool facility from 8am to 10am Monday to Friday for practice. During the Swim Team season, the main pool will not be open to swimmers until 10am, all other facilities are open including the baby pool. Although if possible at 9:00am the step area in the shallow end and one lane will be open for neighborhood swimmers. Meets (home and away) and parties will be posted on the Tracesideswim.com website.
Two lifeguards will be on duty from open to close each day to guard the main pool from May 21 to August 15. After August 15, the second lifeguard will only work on Saturday’s and Sunday’s from 12pm to 5pm. Lifeguards are scheduled to provide adequate lifeguard coverage to the main swimming pool, and assist in daily maintenance duties at the facility to ensure cleanliness.
• All persons using the pool- DO SO AT THEIR OWN RISK.
• Lifeguards will be on duty during pool hours only.
• Management reserves the right to deny use of the pool to anyone at any time in accordance with the Covenants and By-laws for the Traceside Homeowners Association.
• Traceside Pool is access controlled and intended for use by any member of Traceside Homeowners Association, and their guest(s). A Traceside homeowner MUST be present at all times with their guest(s). Anyone who is not accompanied by a Traceside resident may be asked to exit the pool facility. Proof of residency may be required.
• All Traceside residents must enter the pool gate using an electronic pool key. These cards are issued to each homeowner, and provided one time by the association. It is not the responsibility of the Traceside pool staff to allow entry to those without the required pool key. Replacement keys are available for $25 each by contacting Whit Simpson at 673-9865. The pool gate is to remain electronically locked at all times.
• Residents are limited to no more than four guests per home, unless there is a pool party with prior approval through Langley and Taylor Pool Management Company. (See section regarding parties.)
• Rules are strictly enforced by lifeguards at all times. After two warnings for any pool violation, swimmers will be asked to leave the facility for the remainder of the day. Suspension time will be increased due to the severity of the infraction. A Traceside Board member will be notified about the infraction, and follow up with the homeowner will take place if necessary.
• Persons under 14 years of age MUST be accompanied by a responsible person 16 years old or older at all times. However, children of Traceside residents who are age 12 or older may schedule a swim test with the lifeguard to determine if they can swim without an adult on the premises. The parent and swimmer must sign a pool behavior agreement stating that the test was completed and that the child will follow the pool rules without adult supervision. This agreement will be kept in the pool office.
• Running, loud or excessive noise and rough playing are not permitted.
• Foul language and rude gestures will not be tolerated.
• There will be no rough housing while using the basketball goal. This includes forced dunking, hanging on the rim or net, or shooting from extreme distances.
• Throwing of any balls (especially footballs) inside or outside of the pool but within the pool fence area is not allowed.
• It is never appropriate to push a fellow swimmer in the pool, even if you are an adult and pushing children in.
• Glass of any type is not permitted in pool area. This includes serving dishes, beverage bottles, candle votives, glass beads or jewelry. Traceside strictly enforces this Health Department rule at all times, including neighborhood activities and parties within the pool facility.
• No pets allowed in pool area.
• Proper swimming attire MUST be worn while in the pool. Cutoffs are not permitted. Swim diapers must be worn if the swimmer is not toilet trained.
• Diving is prohibited at all times.
• The Traceside pool phone is for emergency purposes only. Please limit necessary calls to 2 minutes.
• Large floats, rafts, canoes, or any large floatation device that may pose an obstruction to the lifeguard’s view of swimmers or be judged to pose a hazard to swimmers shall not be allowed in the pool. It is the sole discretion of the lifeguard on duty.
• Skateboards, skate shoes (wheels extended), roller blades, scooters or bicycles are not permitted within the gated pool facility.
• The baby pool is to be used by children under the age of 5 years old. The baby pool is under the adult supervision of the child’s parent or guardian and will be monitored but not guarded by the lifeguards.
• Rest period shall be called ten minutes before the hour during pool hours of operation. When at least two lifeguards are on duty all children will be asked to exit pool until rest period is over. Adults are allowed to continue swimming during this time. An adult is designated as anyone age 18 and above. “Babies in Arms” and supported in the pool by their parents are allowed to remain in the pool. Children accompanied by parents are not allowed to remain in pool. One lifeguard will remain on the chair during rest period. When only one lifeguard is on duty, the ten minute rest period every hour will require all persons to exit the water.
• At the first occurrence of thunder or lightning, the pool shall be closed to swimmers for 30 minutes. Should lightning or thunder persist, the pool shall remain closed until 30 minutes after the thunder and/or lightening subsides.
PARTIES/ RESERVING THE PAVILION
All parties of 15 or more people must be approved prior to the scheduled event. Residents are asked to call Josh Maxwell at Langley and Taylor Pool Company, 615-244-9008 to schedule a party. Each party of 15 people or more must have at least one extra lifeguard on duty. The fee for an extra lifeguard is $17 per hour, with a minimum of a two hour charge. Residents are required to make their reservation with Langley and Taylor at least 7 days in advance. Residents will be invoiced for the lifeguard fee and payment must be received at least 7 days prior to the event or the reservation will be cancelled. Cancellation Policy – There is no charge to cancel a party with more than 24 hours notice. Parties cancelled with less than 24 hour notice will be invoiced half of the anticipated charge. Trash should be picked up and deposited in pool trash cans by residents hosting the party. Lifeguards and/or pool staff may assist in clean-up after pool events, but are not solely responsible for the clean-up.
While poolside parties may take place after the pool closes to the public at 8:45pm, swimming is prohibited due to inadequate lighting. A lifeguard must still be hired for this time period as required staffing. All parties must have an ending time of no later than 11:00pm.
Reserving the Pavilion: Residents are asked to call Josh Maxwell at Langley and Taylor Pool Company, 615-244-9008 to reserve the large pavilion at the end of the pool. Parties of 12 or less people may be asked to share the pavilion with another party. Each party would have use of half of the pavilion and 2 picnic tables.
SWIM LESSONS
The Traceside Swim Team Coaches will be offering Swim Lessons to any Traceside resident this summer. Residents do not have to be a member of the swim team to have a swim lesson from one of the coaches.
Residents will pay the Coaches directly for the Swim Lessons. To inquire about scheduling lessons and fees please contact:

Outside swim instructors are not permitted to offer lessons to non-Traceside residents. Qualified swim instructors must submit proof of insurance to Morris Property Management Company, attn.: John Hensley. Minimum general liability insurance coverage of $1 million is required. Instructors who do not show proof of insurance will not be permitted to offer swim lessons to Traceside residents at our pool.
