Whit Simpson Retires as HOA President for Traceside
This was the big news of the year for us Tracesiders I think. We recently received an email from Whit announcing that he was retiring from his position as HOA President. We are all experiencing a lot of feelings and emotions about Whit's decision, but we wish him the best. In case you missed his email, the content is below: After 8 years on the Traceside Board of Directors, the last 6 as President, I have decided to retire. Following 35 years of flying the world for United Airlines, I am ready to spend more time with my beautiful wife, Darlene. I want to thank all Tracesiders who have been so supportive over the years. I will miss working with you all on projects we have been able to accomplish during these 8 years. My goal was to make Traceside the BEST neighborhood in Nashville. I think we have accomplished that dream. I am so very proud of Traceside. It was a labor of love... Its been a great 8 years! Thank you, and my best to all... Whit Collecting Food for Nashville Rescue Mission on Sunday, April 17 On Sunday, April 17, there will be a big Easter party and Easter Egg Hunt in the pool parking lot and playground. Please bring non-perishable food items to the party for donation to the Nashville Rescue Mission. You can view a complete wish list for the mission at http://www.nashvillerescuemission.org. 24 Hour Workout Facility Opening Down the Street I just found out that a brand new business is opening down the street where the old Hollywood Video Store was located. The concept is a 24 hour facility for working out. The name of this gym will be Workout Anytime Nashville. Workout Anytime is a place where you can literally workout anytime! They will be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Members access the club through a key card system during unstaffed hours. They are even offering half off the sign up price if you mention reading about them on this website. I'm excited that I can run down the street and actually do something constructive on those nights when I can't sleep. For more details see the main page of this website. Need A Landscaper - Here's a Referral If you need someone to help you with your trimming, you can call our long time HOA landscaper, Dever Matich, owner of "Men in Green" (MIG), and he can help you at a reasonable price. His Cell Number is 260-7998. Family Pet Killed As a Result of a Hit and Run Driver in Traceside Recently, a dog that belonged to a Traceside family was hit by a driver who did not stop. We do have vigilant and caring people in this neighborhood who made sure the family knew their pet had been injured right away. Unfortunately, the dog died a few days after it was hit. Please keep in mind that this is a neighborhood that includes children and pets who don't always exercise the best judgment about running onto a street. We are all aware of the leash law, however, our pets don't always want to cooperate and sometimes find their way out even if they are inside a fenced in yard. Please drive carefully in Traceside. Traceside Community Spring Yard Sale Twice a year in Traceside the entire community has an opportunity to participate in a community wide yard sale. There are many advantages to doing your yard sale on this date. You get to take advantage of free advertising for your yard sale provided by the HOA, and you get to take advantage of the entire community's traffic coming through the neighborhood. So get up in those attics and out in your garages and clear up that clutter. The Spring yard sale will take place on the first Saturday in May which is May 7 this year. Two Groups Formed in Traceside for Adults Since I moved here in 1996, two groups have been formed for adults. The first is a ladies' group that plays Bunco on the 2nd Thursday of the month. Twelve active members are needed to be able to play, so with rotation always happening the group usually has a standby list. If you are interested in this group, please contact Shala Kruse at shalakruse@hotmail.com. The other adult group recently formed in Traceside is a very well organized book club. See the schedule for 2011 which has already been organized through the first half of the year.
